One of the most time-honoured and prestigious global art fairs

BRAFA, otherwise known as the Brussels Art Fair, has been successfully running since 1956 and has joined the ranks of the longest-running art and antiques fairs. Its continual growth over its near 70 years proves the strength of its reputation as the top art market in the world. The art fair has many goals – promote global art, educate the public about art and serve as a marketplace for fine art, antiques, modern, and contemporary art. BRAFA is the art market's barometer and tells curators and gallerists about changes in tastes and attitudes. Overall, there are 20 specialities at the art fair. Here is a brief excerpt – classical archaeology, tribal art, pre-Colombian art, Asian art, jewellery, silverware, coins, furniture, and art objects dating from the Middle Ages to today, and old and modern paintings.

BRAFA 2025

BRAFA's 2025 rendition will be hosted at the Brussels Expo between the dates of 26.01.2025 and 02.02.2025. The venue will not feature strict Covid-19 safety measures at this time. This is because of the removal of the related restrictions in recent months. Because of the improving pandemic situation, the government has opted for this alternative.

BRAFA Art Fair is an annual art and antiques fair, which arrives every year in late January in Brussels, Belgium. Recently, the Belgian Antiques Fair Association has changed the season of the event – now BRAFA will run over the course of eight days at the Brussels Expo in mid-June. The art fair is open to art world members and the public. Work hours are set for 11:00 am until 07:00 pm, with the only exception being Thursday, the fifth day, which will end at 10:00 pm. Brussels Expo is one of the most modern exhibition centres in Europe and has a terrific location in Brussels. You can reach it in 15 minutes from the city centre, and there are regular public transport connections from the North and Central train stations. Brussels airport sits just under half an hour away from the exhibition centre.

  • The reason BRAFA continues to succeed is the fact that organisers perform a rigorous and extensive selection process. All objects have to be verified by an international committee of experts before they can be displayed. This creates a level of trust with art buyers.
  • You come face to face with over 5000 years of history. Diversity is one of the key concepts of the fair. You get not only to see contemporary and modern art but also rare pieces dating all the way back to the Bronze Age.
  • No matter who you are, you can sign up for the Brafa Art Tours, which guide you through the rich selection of artworks and give you context and history on the major highlights.

BRAFA maintains its reputation as one of the top 5 fairs in the art and antique sector, and it is only fitting that its numbers are impressive. 115 galleries from 15 countries, each well-known and respected, occupy the exhibition centre. Roughly 60% of galleries are foreign. They travel from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, and Japan, among others. Together, they display up to 15,000 objects to an audience that goes above 68,000 visitors. As an exhibitor, you will interact with over 100 international experts, who are there in order to verify the authenticity, quality, and condition of the different objects. But most visitors are art lovers, collectors, patrons of Belgian and foreign museums, directors of major museums, and members of cultural and economic circles. Each BRAFA also invites one guest of honour – from a renowned artist to a foreign country’s major cultural institutions.
