CIOE is an abbreviation for the Chinese International Optoelectronics Exposition and currently is ranked as the number one trade event for the optoelectronics' industry in the world. Another huge achievement is the fact that CIOE is also the only optoelectronic exhibition with showcasing fields like optical communications, lasers, infrared, precision optics, sensing, and photonics innovations.
An INFORMA group event, the exhibition is put together by the Shenzhen Herong GS Exhibition Co. with support of the Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of Industry & Information Technology. CIOE occurs every year at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center and each edition lasts four days sometime in September.
In addition to acting as an economic gateway into China’s optoelectronic market, CIOE functions as an information platform concerning the latest research and technology trends across the entire value chain. The exhibition is home to the OGC (Optoelectronics Global Conference) and the International Executives Forums.

CIOE 2024
The latest edition of CIOE will be held as a live exhibition from 11.09.2024 and 13.09.2024 after a rescheduling caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The event will take place at the Shenzhen World Exhibition Centre. Attendees should be prepared for Covid-19 safety procedures, such as the social distance and 3G entry regulations. Participants will be required as part of the travel restrictions to present a negative PCR test before travelling to China. Ite must be submitted 48 hours before the scheduled departure date. They should also be advised that they will be subject to a 5-day centralised and a 3-day home quarantine.

CIOE 2020
The annual editions of CIOE often feature new event additions. The 2020 edition, for example, featured 3 new highlights, including the UV Technology Zone and the ONA. The UV Technology Zone has introduced new products such as UV sensors. Another of the new highlights, the Intelligent Driving Display, was the location for presenting various intelligent driving solutions. ONA was a dedicated area for leading companies to present new optical network solutions and products.
CIOE 2021
The 23rd edition of CIOE signified the restart of face-to-face events. The exhibition occurred from September 16, 2021, to September 18, 2021, as an in-person exhibition. Strict COVID-19 precautions were implemented as part of the rendition's format. The exhibition area of this edition was 160,000 m2, and it received over 3,000 exhibitors. The number of visitors was quite high despite the ongoing pandemic: 42,438 trading visitors attended on the first day. This shows the importance of personal interactions.
CIOE 2023
The 2023 edition of CIOE was hosted as a live trade fair between 06.09.,2023 and 08.09.2023. The edition improved upon the success of the 2021 rendition. This included improving the participation ratings. The event featured over 100,000 visitors and more than 3,000 exhibitors on 240,000 m2.
