A pivotal event for the production technology sector

EMO, also known as the World Trade Fair for Machine Tools and Metalworking, has been a focal point for the metalworking industry since 1975. The international trade fair presents all the latest technologies and innovations across the entire value chain.

Trade visitors are the first to learn about robotics, automation, smart technologies, connected machines and the industrial Internet of Things in a professional setting. Whether it’s through guided tours or the many lectures and forums, you’re in the perfect place to generate interest in your products and make sales.

Emo Milano 2023 and Covid-19

EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE S.P.A. has announced they are creating a safe environment at Fiera Milano for the EMO Milano 2023  edition. The environment will be in compliance with all the latest coronavirus protective measures. A strict mask-wear rule, stringent 3G entry guidelines and social distancing rules will be put in place. During their visit, attendees must maintain a safety distance of 1.5 metres between one another, as well as wear masks. Before entry, they need to show their 3G entry documents. Such include proof of recovery, negative test results or immunisation passports. Stay tuned for further updates regarding the hosting dates.

We’re here to place a reservation on meeting facilities with the right A/V equipment in your name. Clients also come to us when they need their exhibition booth set up efficiently and at a fair price.

EMO is held once every two years towards the beginning of October and editions last for a total of six days, giving visitors and exhibitors the time to fully explore the exhibition and its offerings. What’s interesting about EMO is that it changes locations between Milan in Italy and Hanover in Germany. It’s staged in Fiera Milano City and Messe Hanover respectively. Organisers for the Italian editions are EFIM Ente Fiere Italiane Macchineand and VDW for the German editions.

The working hours are from 09:00 am until 18:00 pm, but these are subject to change due to opening and closing ceremonies as well as other programming items.

Both venues are well-positioned and connected to public transportation. Trade visitors have access to bus services and the underground to make their commute to EMO efficient in every way.

EMO is consistently a leader in the metalworking industry. The last edition saw more than 116,700 trade visitors coming from all over the world. There are professionals from 149 countries and just about half of all visitors are international in nature, which opens up exhibitors to many markets all at once. Speaking of exhibitors, there were 2200 exhibitors, roughly two-thirds of which arrived from 49 countries. The numbers really confirm that EMO represents the world of metalworking. Asia is becoming the market that’s strongly represented with 23% of all visitors travelling from an Asian country.

EMO is put together with the generous support of multiple organisations like AFM, CMTBA, Komma, MIB, MTA and VDI. Exhibitors are manufacturers and suppliers of tools and equipment for metalworking and other related products. Visitors represent a variety of sectors such as shipbuilding, the railway industry, aerospace and the automotive industry.

Emo Milano 2021 Edition

Emo Milano 2021 was attended by more than 60,000 visitors and around 700 exhibitors from 91 nations. It similarly received around 400 accredited journalists. The face-to-face trade show occurred at Fiera Milano between 4.10.2021 and 9.10.2021. The 2021 edition included severe Covid-19 safety measures. Among them were social distancing and attendees needing to show valid health certificates.

What People Are Saying

“We consider EMO to be the world's most important trade fair for the machine tool segment. EMO 2019 in Hannover once again clearly demonstrated that no other event offers as much internationality, as many qualified visitors and as many concrete queries,” – Lukas Czaja, Head of Machine Tools Industry Management, igus GmbH;

“As a drive specialist, we came to EMO Hannover 2019 with a host of innovations. For example, we presented a widely acclaimed solution for the benefit of designers who repeatedly encounter the challenge of the thermal decoupling of drive components from the machine body when developing machine tools,” – Werner Mäurer, Managing Director, Hiwin GmbH;

“Digitalization in Machine Tool Manufacturing – Thinking Ahead!’ That was the motto for our appearance at EMO 2019 in Hannover. Our dialogue with our customers at the fair revealed that digitalization and the use of data and its transformation into useful knowledge are the key drivers for innovation, increased productivity and faster time-to-market.” – Dr. Wolfgang Heuring, CEO Motion Control, Siemens Digital Industries, Siemens
