The UK's most extensive quarry and construction event

Hillhead has been at the forefront of quarrying, construction, and recycling for 36 years now, with the very first edition kicking off in 1985. Over the decades, the international exhibition has earned itself the title of the largest exhibition of its kind worldwide – another reason why Hillhead goes on to grow in size and prestige. It’s perfect for meeting with new suppliers and learning all there is to learn about the latest technology, whether it’s through static displays or riveting live demos. The product portfolio extends to ball and roller bearings, vehicles, stone working machines, rock processing and recycling, specialist crushers, shredders, screens, and washing equipment.

Hillhead 2024

The mining industry will have to wait a while longer to attend Hillhead, as the major quarrying and construction exhibition will be held in 2024 between 25.06.2024 and 27.06.2024. Organisers will host a face-to-face format at Hillhead Quarry. The venue will not feature for the time being Covid-19 safety measures. This is due to the improving pandemic situation, which has resulted in the removal of the domestic and travel restrictions.

Hillhead arrives outside the city limits of Buxton, UK, every two years. The outdoor exhibition occupies the Hillhead Quarry Harpur Hill for three consecutive days in late June and is the centre for the most dynamic and exciting machinery demonstrations. QMJ Publishing Ltd. is the official organiser for the event and admission is given to industry professionals only. Opening times are from 08:30 am until 18:00 pm for the first two days and until 16:30 pm on the closing day. The quarry finds itself outside the city limits of Buxton, so the only way to reach the grounds is by driving. To that end, there’s ample parking available on site. The closest railway station is Buxton Station, located approximately 3 km from the showground.

  • “It is the direct face-to-face contact the Show provides that is just so important. We had high levels of engagement on the stand, secured a number of new memberships and received many enquiries for our education and training services,” – Michael Brookshaw, Global Distributor Manager, Keestrack;
  • Hillhead puts us in front of customers from a wide range of industries, many of them decision-makers,” – Ben Pilkington, Marketing Director, Fuel Proof Ltd;
  • We are very satisfied with the outcome of the Hillhead exhibition, meeting professionals and having valuable conversations with experts within our industry. For us, Hillhead is the best opportunity to show visitors and customers our new products and let them experience the uniqueness and high quality of our machines,” – Richard Harrison, Managing Director, Wacker Neuson UK;
  • Hillhead 2018 has been our busiest ever show. There was a great deal of interest in our concrete plant and systems and we’ve picked up a significant number of potential sales leads, not to mention confirmed sales, including a product on display on our stand,” – Neil Taylor, Sales Manager, Danfords

Last edition proved itself to be one of the most successful ever considering that over 19,700 visitors from roughly 90 countries made the trip. This makes Hillhead the most international than it’s ever been. We’re talking about a rise by nearly 30% in over-seas visitors. The 4 demonstration areas had machinery and vehicles by 545 exhibitors and there were over 60 live demonstrations. This level of success can be attributed to generous support by The Institute of Quarrying, TARMAC, Conway, H/H workwear, DLL, ATG and Mecalac. Companies to exhibit are mainly manufacturers on the lookout for new contacts and growing their clientele with an emphasis on penetrating new foreign market. Trade visitors come from a wide spectrum of sectors – deep mining; quarrying, asphalt, ready mix and concrete products recycling, civil engineering, specialist contractors, plant hire, demolition, and equipment suppliers. Aside from the UK and Europe, trade visitors arrived from every single continent on Earth and the strongest strong international presence came from the Middle East.

Hillhead 2022 Edition

Hillhead 2022 marked the successful return of the event to the face-to-face editions. It was hosted at the Hillhead Quarry amidst the absence of Covid-19 safety measures due to the removal of the UK's domestic restrictions during the previous months. The event received approximately 18,500 visitors and 604 exhibitors between the dates 21.06.2022 and 23.06.2022.
